Jiggy, aka: Ludacris, Luda, Hank Williams Jr., Jiggles and Bits, Protector & Sir Barks a Lot took his last breath July 31, 2026, at 4:18pm surrounded by his brother Whitt, his grandmother, B.B., and of course his mom, Darra.
Who would have thought this four legged gangster would live such a huge life? He will be forever remembered for things most mothers would not exactly call proud moments.
Jigs was kicked off two flights, drank a liter of alcohol, was run over twice, stole numerous golf balls from hole 12 at Annandale, enjoyed being electrocuted by jumping back and forth over the invisible fence line just for kicks, and too many other shenanigans to mention.
All of this being said, what he was and who he was is a different story. He did not identify as a dog, he was loyal to a fault, he loved his baby brother Whitt, he was a star on Podcasts, his Aunt CJ could make him sing at the drop of a hat, his B.B. looked after him as his mom worked.
B.B. would often go to the end of the driveway in order to get a picture with Jigs of the latest edition of the Clarion Ledger Newspaper so that his mom could have proof of life.
He loved so many and so many loved him. What he loved most of all was his mom. He never left her side, not for a moment, depriving his mom any kind of privacy and always reminded us that there was love without condition nor judgment. We were all lucky to have had him.
He also had an affinity for “bones” and those of you out there that may read this know exactly what I’m speaking of.
He was the beauty that existed in the world without asking to be. He just was Jiggy. Life will never be the same now that he is gone…but the truth is all of us got to have him in our lives for better or worse, mostly better I must say… there was not a day that went by where he did not make someone’s life a tiny bit better and that is the gift of legacy.
Darra Woolman is a Northsider.
