Growing up in the '50s

I complain about the cold weather and all the clothes needed to keep warm and I say “I will never grumble about the hot weather.” Really, I am protesting every day. I do not know about others, but I seem to become really unpleasant as the temperatures rise and I begin to “glisten with moisture.”

About my daddy

Most of us have heard, “Anyone can be a father, but it takes a man to be a Dad.” I so agree with this axiom. My daddy was one of eleven children. He lost his mother when he was eleven years old, and with that many brothers and sisters, he learned to persevere in his life.

As a “homegrown” girl, I have seen Kosciusko change very much over the years. In my growing-up years, our square boasted four grocery stores, two movie houses, two dime stores, three drug stores, two or three cafés and several clothing stores. On Saturdays the metered parking spaces would be full.
