Peggy's Ponderings: Sharing stories with grandchildren on what life was like during a different time

I love to tell and retell stories to my grandchildren about my childhood probably because it was so different from what theirs is today. They have a supermarket to buy groceries, all kinds of different goodies, Starbucks for specialty coffee, all different types of meats, and just a host of all new “fangled” things.

The Strand holds many cherished memories

I saw in our newspaper last week that they have started to tear down the inside of the old Strand Theatre. A situated treasure in Kosciusko Mississippi. It was built around 1929 and was then operated by the Memphis based Strand Enterprises theatre chain.

The days seem to be getting longer. It seems like the sun waits to set a little later every day.
Daylight Saving Time will begin March 12. This idea started in Germany 1916 as a way to save power during WWI.

Pet rooster, Elvis Pecksley, joins family

I suppose you could say we are an animal family. We have 250-plus black cows, 10 barn cats and now one rooster, Elvis Pecksley. One of my grandsons brought him to me this weekend after a wrestling round or two and a few scratches.
