There is much on which I could pontificate but I shall refrain. Saving those thoughts for another week, God’s will and the creek doesn’t rise. These 425 words will be devoted to action. If you saw our democracy gasping for oxygen underneath the weight of the Republican cover-up, then I have some action for you.
The Attala County Democratic Party is holding precinct caucuses on the February 15 at Jason Niles Park at 10 a.m. Come out to caucus with the party that is not covering up the multitude of Constitutional violations committed by Trump.
The purpose of the precinct caucuses is to determine the direction the party will go, not only at the local level, but the state and national levels, as well. It is during the precinct caucuses that the planks for the party’s platform are formed. The planks are voted into place at the county level and then voted into place at the state and national levels. Come out February 15 to caucus with the Attala County dems.
This caucus is not to be confused with what happened in Iowa. There is no app, only paper, pencil, and plain arithmetic will be used. Simple processes keep the truth visible for all to see. Practice of transparency makes clear the government we desire. It can only happen if we are involved in the process.
I listened to a rap, “My Vote Don’t Count,” by Yello Pain, this week. He breaks things down perfectly as to why we must be involved in the political process every year, not just every four years.
If we don’t become active in the political process, then we are the reason our nation sinks into a dictatorship. Please make no mistake, we are slipping into a dictatorship. I can think of no trial in the United States of America that has allowed the defendant to set the terms of the trial. McConnell set the terms according to what Trump dictated. We have an Attorney General of the United States actively involved in covering up the Constitutional violations of Trump at every turn. When you violate the Constitution of the United States, you are engaging in treason.
Come caucus with the party not covering for treason. Caucus with the party that still respects the rule of law. What are we when we fail to uphold the laws of the land? What are we when we only apply the laws to some and not all? Come caucus with the party that respects the rights of all citizens in the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
