Marie Nowell Mitchell, 83, of Ethel, MS passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral services were 2:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery. Visitation was from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. James Culpepper officiated.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Doyle Ray Mitchell, daughters Cynthia Moore (Danny) of Mantachie, MS and Angela Clark (Rodger) of Ethel, MS, grandchildren Ashley Pullen, Austin Wheeler, Brent Moore, Hunter Clark, and
Conner Clark, 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Ophelia Mitchell.
Marie was born July 18, 1942 to Haywood and Bernice Nowell. She graduated from Ethel High School in 1960, when she married her High School sweetheart.
Together they served the North Mississippi area in multiple charges with the United Methodist Conference. During this time she welcomed three beautiful girls and later completed cosmetology school.
She was preceded in death by her parents Haywood and Bernice Nowell and daughter Connie Wheeler, sister Barbara Ann Wheeless and brother in law George Mitchell.
Pallbearers are Austin Wheeler, Brent Moore, Danny Moore, Rodger Clark, Hunter Clark, and Conner Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Wheeless, Scott Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, and J.T. Pullen.
