Martha Christine Mangrum, 85, of Decatur, departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2022, at Anderson Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
She was born April 28, 1936, in Laurel, the daughter of the late Jacob and Sarah Horne.
Christine was a graduate of Shady Grove High School in 1953. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Southern Mississippi and her master’s degree from Mississippi State University.
Upon graduation, Christine was employed with Newton County Extension office where she remained until her retirement. She was very active as a 4H leader and was selected as a judge for different competitions including the Neshoba County Fair. Christine attended Clarke Venable Baptist Church of Decatur for over 52 years. A loving mother and wife for over 40 years to the man of her dreams, Christine was honorable, compassionate, and loving and generous person who will be deeply missed by all that loved her or knew her.
Christine is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Mangrum and son Darrell Mangrum.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Doug) Blackwell; one granddaughter, Carlie Kitchings; and one grandson, Brody Kitchings.
Visitation was held Monday morning, January 10, 2022 at Doty Springs Baptist Church in Attala County with funeral services and burial immediately following.
