Ramon Jordan Jackson, Sr. of Kosciusko finished his race on May 9, 2022, when he heard his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus utter those words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
He passed away peacefully lying in bed with Snooks holding him.
Born November 19, 1927, Ramon aka, “Peepaw,” leaves behind a wonderful legacy with Snooks, which lives on through their son Ray (Beth) Jackson of Canton, daughter Rhonda (Mike) Johnson of Kosciusko, and his four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; Michael and Jan Johnson, Jr. (Emma Grace, Ellie Kate, Emerson, Max, and Jack Bailey); J.J. and Allen Warrington, Jr. (Harvey III and Hazel); Ramon & Elysia Jackson, III (Nora and Dean); and Ryan and Hartley Jackson (Charlie and Lucy). He also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who he adored.
Peepaw is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Zollicoffer Jackson, Jr., and Hazel Jordan Jackson; his brother, Frederick Zollicoffer Jackson III, aka “Buddy” (Frankie), and his sister, Joyce Jackson Bruce (James).
Ramon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kosciusko, where he was raised and attended all his life. He served as a deacon and on church committees for years as he greatly influenced many people for the kingdom where he now resides. He co-founded the Doug Colston Men's Coffee Club and was one of the original stockholders of the Kosciusko Country Club.
He was an outstanding athlete from a very early age in football, baseball, and softball. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed every type of hunting throughout his life. After graduating from Kosciusko High School, he was a walk-on for the MSU Football team in 1944, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1948 and continuing to his death a die-hard Mississippi State fan.
Wherever Ramon went, he never met a stranger. His amazing people skills and his gift of gab, along with the importance he placed on honesty and integrity, gave him the personality of a natural-born salesman. Ramon began in sales at the early age of 15 in his father's grocery store on the square in Kosciusko. Over the years, he opened his own coffee business with his brother Buddy. He later worked at Jordan’s Chevrolet, LuVel Dairy, and Piggly Wiggly. He transitioned to the Lewis Grocery Company/Supervalu as Vice President of Store Development, until retiring in 1989.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael R. Johnson, Jr., Max and Jack Johnson, Ramon Jackson, III, Ryan Jackson, Allen Warrington, Jr., Harvey Warrington, III, Allen Warrington, Sr, Gary Ellington, David Earl Adcock, and Robert Ellis.
Arrangements: Visitation was from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Rev. Phillip Palmertree ministered the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church of Kosciusko. Graveside services were followed at the Kosciusko City Cemetery on Bobo Street in Kosciusko, MS.
