Mr. Willie Merl “Sonny” Bates, Jr., 70, of Weir, passed away April 24, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at North Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Jim Ballard will officiate.
Sonny was a member of New Haven Baptist Church. He was a nurse at Choctaw Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Michele Bates; sons, Billy Bates (Heather), John Bates (Chrysta), Gage Bates (Mia); and grandchildren, Hunter, Dalton, and Alex.
He is preceded in death by parents, Willie Merl and Margerite Bates; sisters, Tammy Berry, Barbara Brown.
Pallbearers will be Albert Campbell, Bill Campbell, Brett Naquin, Gerald McGinnis, Craig Campbell and Kevin Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Buck Burrell, David McGehee, Curry Wilson , Larry Allen and Pat Burrell.
