Wade Shumaker, 78, of Ethel, passed away April 28, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation was 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Culpepper Funeral Home and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Rev. Dwight Fleming, Rev. Terrell Mayo and Rev. Danny Townsend officiated.
He was born December 6, 1938, to Homer Lee and Eddie Pearl Tierce Shumaker.
He was a 1957 graduate of Ethel High School and attended Holmes Junior College. He married Sara Lynn Riley on April 25, 1959, and they had two children.
He was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church and a Mason. He served 16 years as Attala County Supervisor District 5.
He enjoyed working with cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bobbie Shumaker Black.
He is survived by wife, Sara Shumaker; son, Galen (Tricia) Shumaker; daughter, Susan (Clay) Paslay; grandchildren, Max, Eli (Aubrie Claire), Lee, Sadie Lynn, Mary Hartley Waller.
Pallbearers were Max Shumaker, Eli Shumaker, Lee Shumaker, Barry Black, Billy Tierce, Jerry Riley.
