Mr. Troy D. Steed, 68, of Kosciusko, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel; burial to follow at Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. Rev. Tony Fortenberry and Rev. Charlie Long will officiate.
Mr. Troy was born Sep. 23, 1949, in Attala County to Louie and Vera Holmes Steed.
He was an Army Veteran serving during Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Division, Company B, where he received the Bronze Star, Mobile Air Medal and Purple Heart.
He served Attala County for 31 years through law enforcement as a police officer and Attala County Sheriff.
Mr. Troy was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pate Steed; sons, Mark Steed, Matt Steed and wife Daphne, Dwain Steed and Holly Steed; brothers, Raybon Steed and wife Carol, Eldridge Steed and wife Etheline and Roy Steed; grandchildren, Jonathan Steed and wife Danica, Macey Steed, Maggie Steed, Molly Steed, Gage Steed and Shay Steed; great grandchildren, Abigail, Kelly Grace, Emma Kate and Sadie Beth.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Mark Steed, Matt Steed, Dwain Steed, Ricky Steed, Edward Steed and Ray Steed.
Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Steed, Gage Steed and the Sunday School Class at Doty Springs Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
