Paul Stewart was born July 19, 1952, to the late Mr. Jim and Mrs. Emma Stewart of Ethel.
Paul accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Chapel Hill M.B. Church where he served as a faithful deacon. He received his education at Greenlee School. He began working at Shellar Globe Company until it closed. He then began logging for most of his life. Paul's last place of employment was at the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko as a security guard until his health failed.
Paul united in holy matrimony to his loving wife, Malissa Jean Stewart, for 47 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Jim and Mrs. Emma Stewart; four brothers-in-law, Clarence Merritt, Willie Lattimore, James Alston and Grady Alston; two sisters-in-law, Lena Alston and Carr Merritt; two grandsons, DeMarcus Merritt and Kajaun Atterberry; and father-in-law, Clarence Merritt.
Paul leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Malissa Stewart, of Ethel; five children, Ruby (Ricky) Zollicoffer of Ethel, Brenda (Charles) Robinson of Ethel, Christopher (Leslie) Stewart of Sallis, Byron (Erica) Stewart of Ethel, and Aris Stewart of Ethel; five siblings, his twin Paulette Love of Ethel, Carolyn Stewart of Ethel, Brenda Alston of Kosciusko, JoAnn (Melvin) Hall of Carthage; one brother, Arthur (Linda) Stewart of Greenville, Texas; mother-in-law; Leana Pearl Merritt of Ethel; three sisters-in-law, Janice Lattimore of Ethel, Dora Merritt of Ethel, Doris (Mark) Stribling of Weir, Emma Merritt of Weir; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Jack Merritt of Davenport, Iowa, and Dwight (Nell) Merritt; 18 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service was held at Plantation Cemetery, Ethel, on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, and internment there followed.
