Mary Bennett Burchfield of Orlando, Fla., died April 27, 2017. She was born on March 6, 1924.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Billy Bowie will officiate.
Mrs. Burchfield was born in Winston County, to Walter and Pearl Bennett. She was one of nine children. She received her B.S. Degree from Mississippi State University in 1945 in Elementary Education and taught school in Louisville and Yazoo City for 30 years before her retirement. She married Tommie Lynwood Burchfield, Sr. in 1946, and remained married until his death in 1991. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Yazoo City and after her husband’s death she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisville. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Survivors include one brother, Walter Bennett of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Dr. Tommie Burchfield and his wife, Brenda Evans Burchfield; two granddaughters, Kasey and Whitney, all of Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; seven sisters; and her husband.
Pallbearers will be Carl Hogue, Tommy Marbury, Pete Reynolds, Mike Stokes, Bennett Woodall and Pruit Woodall.
