Mamie Dee Bain Shelley, 86, of Kosciusko, passed over into the loving arms of her Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, with her family by her side.
She was born on July 12, 1930, to the late Allen Oscar and Nona Jane Johnson Bain of Ethel. She married the late Ralph Shelley on October 10, 1953.
The avid quilter was a nurses’ aid at the Attala County Nursing Home for 13 years. As a member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School, MYF, and helped out with Vacation Bible School.
Mamie, or Madam Queen as she was affectionately called by her late husband, is survived by her daughter, Minnie Conner (James) of Kosciusko; son, Otis Shelley of Kosciusko; two granddaughters, Eve Dee Miller of Ethel and Michelle Dees of Gulfport; three great-grandchildren, Sabrina Miller, Selena Miller and Clint-Everette Miller, all of Kosciusko; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; four special sisters in Christ, Lavelle Boyette, Betty Jean Wasson, Mary Rhodes, and Lavenia Miller.
Visitation will be held at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, with the funeral in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ralph Pee, Jr., Shawn Pee, Gene Dismuke, Ken Bain, Denny Dismuke, Trent Dismuke, David Starnes, and Ray Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers are Stan Nabors, Dwayne Nabors, David Bain, Joe Comfort, Craig Pee, Paul Starnes, Sta-Home Health and Hospice and all nephews and great nephews.
