Lydell Ray, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Attala County Rehab in Kosciusko.
Visitation was Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services were Sunday, December 2, in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Don Ray and Rev. Sid Vaughn officiated.
He was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church. He also was the owner and operator of Ray’s Trucking for 31 years. After retiring from trucking, he owned and managed M. L. Ray Farms, where he raised Angus cattle. It was on this farm that he grew many flowers, but he loved growing roses.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ray of Ethel; son, Bruce Ray of Pensacola, FL; step-daughter, Lyn Fortune of Ethel; grandchildren, Madison Ray, McKenzie Ray, Andrew Fortune, and Hannah Ray; two great-grandsons; and sisters, Annette McCool of Ethel, JoAnn Sprayberry of Ethel, and Sommone Ray of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death his son, Stevey Ray; sister, Dollie Fay Middlebrook; and parents, G. M. “Moody” and Eva Steed Ray.
Pallbearers will be Glen Lepard, Sam Shields, Billy Cummins, Marty Terry, Roy McCrory, and Brad Cain.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
