Juanita “Nita” Curtis, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at her home. Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at the French Camp Presbyterian Church in French Camp. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with burial to follow in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Alex Coblentz will officiate.
She was an active member of French Camp Presbyterian Church. She taught Physical Education and Health for 32 years at Tucker High School in Atlanta, GA and coached various sporting, primarily basketball. She retired back to French Camp in 1988. She was a co-founder of the French Camp Museum, a member of French Camp Community Club and an active member in French Camp Academy Alumni Association.
Survivors include Donna Reed and family, Mike Curtis and family, Everett Curtis and family, Eve Carter and family, Rebecca Green and family, Tim Curtis, Janice and Patsy Curtis, Cynthia Wilburn and family, Debbie Ledford-Goodman and family, Chuck Ledford and family, and Torrey Curtis and family. She is also survived by her special caregivers, Ester Jean Ashford, Linda Forrest, Pat Dotson, Gloria McNutt, Honesty Lewis, Shanette Lewis, Shirley Fleming, and Melissa McElroy.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur Curtis, Martin Curtis, Harold Curtis, Kenneth Curtis, Agnes Curtis Simmons, Draper Curtis Ledford, Della Lou Curtis, Everett Curtis, and Trudy Curtis Green.
