Janice Allen Ford, 76, was surrounded by her family when she passed away in her home in Petal, on July 6, 2017.
Janice was the mother of four children and grandmother to seven grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family. She was married to James Alexander Ford for 39 years and lived most of her life in Jackson. Early in life, Janice worked in the telephone industry, as a professional secretary and later as an accounting supervisor. She was active in her community. One of her greatest joys was co-creating a benevolent agency called Faith in Action. Its primary duty was to help the poor and the homeless.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star. She graduated with honors from Southeastern Louisiana University and she was a certified ESL teacher.
Janice was the daughter of the late Carlton and Shirley Evans Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Edwards Sample and her husband Sam of Ebenezer; her sons, Dr. Jeffrey Ford and his wife Dawn of Fairfax Station, Va.; Jim Reeser of Metairie, La.; Jon Carlin and his wife Lisa of Quitman; her grandchildren, Samuel Sample of Jackson, Dr. Matthew Sample of Cookeville, Tenn.; Patrick Sample of Ebenezer; Jeffrey Jr. and Abigail Ford of Fairfax Station, Va.; Lily Carlin of Quitman.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Allen and her grandson, Justin Sample.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church Parish Hall in Kosciusko, on Saturday, July 15, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m., in the sanctuary.
