James Warren Sanders, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Select Specialty Medical in Jackson surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Mark Parnell will officiate.
Warren is an Army Veteran of WWII who fought in the Pacific Theater until the surrender of Japan. He participated in many of the fiercest landing invasions of the war and received several citations and medals during his service. Unfortunately, he still fought those battles at night while he slept.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn K. Sanders; his sons, James Warren Sanders, Jr. of Denham Springs, LA, and Rickey E. (Margaret) Sanders of Kosciusko; his daughter, Linda S. (Bruce) Cain of Kosciusko; grandchildren, Stephanie (Butch) Phillips of Denham Springs, LA, Tommy (Amity) Sanders of Panama City, FL, Kelly S. (Mike) Sullivan of Starkville, Rick Sanders of Kosciusko, and Brandon (Samantha) Cain of Kosciusko; grand-daughter-in-law, Bree B. Sanders of D’Iberville, MS; great-grandchildren, Anna C. Sanders, Levi B. Sanders, Matthew Sanders, Daniel Sanders, Jenna Sullivan, Mary Margaret Sullivan, Michael Sullivan and Lilly Brook Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Shula Sanders; his brothers, Calvin Sanders and Percy Sanders; sisters, Geneva Tyler and Lovenia Bingham; daughter-in-law, Norma H. Sanders; and grandson, James “Jimmy” Warren Sanders, III.
Pallbearers will be Rayburn Robertson, Jimmy Jenkins, Joe Sharp, Wayne Reed, Joey Cain, and Julius Tyler.
