James Ray Edwards, 59, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Liberty Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Matt Steed and Rev. Donald Self will officiate.
He was a member and former deacon of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church. He was Chief Jailer and Transport Officer for the Attala County Sheriff’s Office. He was a retired owner of S & J Trucking in Kosciusko. He was a member of the American Legion Riders Post #44. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. His pastime was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Survivors include his daughters, Hope (Josh) Hogan of Columbus and Dawn (Al) Aler of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Anna Hogan, Brady Hogan, Hunter Aler, and Emma Aler; a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles; and a special friend, Jalane Mathis.
He was preceded in death by parents, Jessie James and Rosa Claudine Edwards; and sister, Renee Edwards.
Pallbearers will be David White, Sam Bell, Alan Rutherford, Hugh Curry, Jimmy Nunn, Zelie Shaw, Jimmy McCool, and Sheriff Tim Nail. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Attala County Sheriff’s Office and the American Legion Riders Post #44.
Memorial may be sent to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
