George Leslie Hand, 87, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Oxford.
Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Danny Irvin and Rev. Derrick Wilson will officiate.
He was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. He was also a member of N.A.R.F. and the American Legion Post #44. He was instrumental in starting the Isle of Honor, which is held at Parkway Cemetery. He was also a leader in getting the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Survivors include his son, Terrell Hand and wife, Cathy Alsup Hand of Manchester, Tenn.; daughter, Suzanne Lindsay of Ponotoc; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Pangborn and Clara Fitzgerald, both of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Howe Hand; parents, Uel and Marie Aarbo Hand; brother, Horace Hand,and sister, Elva Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hand, Glenn Bennett, Zachary Bennett, Brad Bingham, Preston Lindsay, Mike Melton and alternate, Terry Raby.
