Floyce Cook Tucker, 96, formerly of Vaiden, MS, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 2018, in Jackson, MS, where she had lived in a nursing home since December of 2014.
She was born in Vaiden, MS, on March 10, 1921, the daughter of
the late George and Minnie Gant Cook.
Floyce was preceded in death by her husband, William Herman Tucker; a daughter, Brenda Kay Tucker; five sisters, Willie Zelma Welch, Marguerite Townsend, Faye Townsend, Loree Cook and Parilee Dill; two brothers, Rufus Cook and Luther Cook; son-in-law, Roland Rutledge; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Tucker.
Floyce is survived by one son, Tommy Tucker of Vaiden; five daughters, Phyllis Henson (John) of Clinton, Joy Mayes (W.O.) of Brandon, Sue Rutledge of Murfreesboro, TN, Sandra Brumfield (Al) of Ocean Springs and Shelba Tucker of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
Life was never about her; it was about God, family and her love and generosity for others. Floyce was a simple woman with a huge heart who loved everyone she met. While residing in Vaiden, she was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she had many friends and enjoyed Sunday School and worship services.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the funeral service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Vaiden, MS, with the Rev. Doug Warren officiating. Family and friends were able to visit prior to funeral services. Burial will be at Midway Cemetery; however, there will be no graveside service. Sebrell Funeral home of Ridgeland, MS is in charge of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 9240 CR 31, Vaiden, MS 39176.
