Edward “Ed” Nance, 86, of Goodman, passed away Sept. 13, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Goodman United Methodist Church. Rev. Sylvia Blackwell will officiate. Burial will follow at Seneasha Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 14, 5–8 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home.
Mr. Nance was born on January 16, 1930, in Vina, Ala. to parents Jack and Ilonie Nance. He received a football scholarship from Holmes Junior College which he attended from 1949 to 1951. He was named alumnus of the year in 2004. During his time at college, he met his future wife, Billie McCrory. They married on July 6, 1953. He left college to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his education in the field of medical technology. He earned his B.S. degree from Jacksonville State University, and worked as a Medical Technologist and Purchasing Agent for the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital for almost 40 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed football, riding his tractor, and spending time with his family.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Veterans Nursing Home for their support in his final days.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Billie Nance; daughter, Laura Nance; sons, Darrell (Marla) Nance and Steve (Tricia) Nance; brother, Jerry Nance; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Goodman United Methodist Church or Seneasha Cemetery.
