Charlene Ainsworth Faulkner King, retired Registered Nurse and longtime resident of Attala County, passed on March 10, 2018, after a long struggle with cancer.
She was born August 10, 1933, along with her fraternal twin brother, Kendall Roberts Ainsworth, in the Marydell Community of Leake County to Ellis L. Ainsworth and Rachael Roberts Ainsworth. She graduated as valedictorian from Marydell High School, was married thirty years to Ray Thurston Faulkner of the Singleton Community until his death in 1981, raised three children, David Ray Faulkner (Stephanie Cook) of Madison; Donald Lamar Faulkner (Laura Jones) of Plattsburg and Debi Faulkner Collins of Philadelphia. She was then married to Robert Lawrence King of Attala County until his passing in 2003.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Rachael Ainsworth; her brothers, James Dorrill Ainsworth and Kendall Roberts Ainsworth; her sister, Louise Burkes Spence; first husband, Ray T. Faulkner; second husband, Robert L. King; grandson Jesse (JD) Parker. She is survived by her sisters, Faye Ainsworth Nazary and Joyce Ainsworth Wilbanks both of Carthage; sons, David Ray Faulkner (Stephanie Cook) of Madison; Don L. Faulkner (Laura Jones) of Plattsburg; daughter, Debi ‘Flea’ Faulkner Collins of Philadelphia; six grandsons, Jason LeBlanc (Allison Killen) of Acworth, Ga.; Josh Faulkner (Lyndie Haddakin) of Madison; Jonathan Faulkner (Kaysey Burns) of Madison; Alex Collins of Nashville; Jordan Faulkner of Memphis and Sean Haddakin (Erika Prather) of Flowood; nine great-grandchildren, Misty Ann and David Lee Parker; Adalyn and Lillian Faulkner; Rowan and Isla LeBlanc and August and Everett Faulkner.
Visitation was held March 12, 2018, at Wilcox Funeral Home with Memorial Services officiated by Ross Holleyman following at Corinth Baptist Church. Charlene was interred at Corinth Baptist Church, Singleton. Pallbearers were Charlene’s nephews, Richard E. Nazary, Jimmy Dale Nazary, Billy Mack Wilbanks, Bobby Wilbanks, Carl Wilbanks and Leroy Kuriger. Honary Pallbearers were Dwayne Burkes, Larry, King, David Glenn Chamblee, Dwain McNair, Danny McGivney and Jerry Rawson.
Her family would like to convey its sincerest thank you and appreciation to Katelin Adams and her staff at Atwood Personal Home Care of Kosciusko; Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland; Ross Holleyman of Carthage; Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage; Corinth Baptist Church in Singleton and church members; The Eagles’ Nest, Carthage, as well as all the wonderful friends and family for their visits, calls and cards to our mother during her long illness; to those who sent beautiful flowers and celebrated the life of Charlene with us and, most especially, for all the special prayers on our Mother’s behalf. May she rest in peace.
