Mrs. Allie D. Foster Jackson, 91, passed from this earthly life Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Claiborne at Adelaide in Starkville, MS.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Kosciusko, MS. She received a B.S. degree in Education from Jackson State University, then pursued further study at Atlanta University and Indiana University, majoring in school librarianship. In addition to her primary focus as the librarian in the Jackson Public School system, and as a volunteer librarian at Tougaloo College,
she taught English and band, and served a choir director in schools where she worked.
At an early age, she joined Wesley United Methodist Church in Kosciusko, then became a member of Anderson United Methodist Church in Jackson, where her service included church pianist and organist.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Reverend Embra K. Jackson, Jr. (Rosia), of Starkville; sister, Mary Virginia Ukegbu; brother, Charles Foster (Faye); seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, at Collins Northside Chapel. The funeral service at noon on Friday at Anderson United Methodist Church will be followed by burial in Natchez Trace Cemetery.
