The Nation's Weather for Saturday, September 30, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
The storm that unloaded torrential rain and triggered major
flooding from near New York City to southern and central New
England will crawl away today. Downpours from a stalled
front will persist over the central and southern part of the
Florida Peninsula. Just to the west and north of the two
rain areas, a vast swath of dry air and sunshine with
building warmth is in store from the Appalachians to much of
the Mississippi Valley. The dry conditions over the
Mississippi basin will continue to push river levels lower
into next week. Spotty thunderstorms, some severe, will
pester the Upper Midwest, the southern Rockies and the High
Plains. A push of chilly air more typical of November will
be accompanied by areas of rain and high-elevation snow in a
large part of the West.
