Two Attala County schools were evacuated after bomb threats Friday morning.
McAdams High School and Long Creek Elementary were evacuated after the respective schools received phone threats.
“We were on scene after the threat at McAdams when a threat for Long Creek came in from the same phone number,” Attala County sheriff Tim Nail said. “We take things like this very seriously, but when the second bomb threat came from the same number it was appearing to be a hoax.”
Both schools were searched by local law enforcement and the students were returned to class once it was deemed safe.
“All staff and administration reacted in a timely manner and moved all students to a safe location while law enforcement cleared both locations,” officials with the Attala County School District said in a release.
Two juveniles were arrested in connection with the threats on the charge of falsely reporting of a bomb or explosive.
