The Kosciusko Police Department announced a number of personnel changes during a recent city meeting.
Chief Herbert Dew recommended that the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen hire Cody Williams to fill an open officer position with the department. Williams, who is not a certified officer, will go to the police academy.
Dew also announced the promotion of officers Thomas Clark, Bradley Fancher and Maurice Hawthorne to lieutenant. The chief said the criteria for the promotion was to have three years of experience on the force and pass a written exam.
“All three men passed their written tests, and I feel like they will do an outstanding job,” Dew told the board.
Aldermen voted unanimously to accept the new hire and the promotions.
In other action from the meeting, the board:
• Hired part-time employees in the parks and recreation department.
• Accepted bids on picnic tables and bleachers for area parks.
• Approved payments to Woody Sample and Slaughter & Associates.
