Annual Relay for Life is scheduled for Friday night in the Renasant Bank Park and in the area of the Kosciusko Attala Partnership (KAP) office on South Natchez Street.
The event is held annually with funds raised going to the American Cancer Society. A goal of $63,680 has been set according to Corey Ramage who is serving as chairman. Gina Smith will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening.
Cancer survivors are invited to meet in the KAP office at 6 p.m. in preparation for the survivors walk. Simone Owen will be recognized as a cancer survivor. Adrienne Womble, who lost her battle with cancer, will be remembered and memorialized.
Following the survivors walk, The Dance Company students will perform in the parking lot behind Renasant Park. Other activities for children in the area will be code red paintball, knockerballs, train ride, glow run, dunking booth, jumpers, games, music and face painting.
At 6:45, Miss Relay winners will be introduced.
Kids hour has been designated from 7-8 p.m. and free popsicles will be available. Tommy Shorts will sing “The Kosciusko Song” and give the countdown to the fun run, also called the glow run, so named for the glow in the dark T-shirts. Those who pre-registered may pick up their shirts at the KAP office the night of the event. Registrations for the run will continue Friday night.
Entertainment scheduled for 9 p.m. will be by Stace and Cassie Band of Jackson.
The luminaria ceremony will begin at 10 p.m. when names of those for whom luminaries have been bought in honor or in memory will be read.
Food will be available throughout the evening and will include pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers and sno-cones. Crawfish will also be offered.
According to Ramage, activities will continue until 11 p.m.
