The City of Kosciusko is offering residents the chance to get rid of trash that does not quite fit in the garbage can.
The annual citywide clean-up was unanimously approved for May 14 by the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen last Tuesday. The event will give residents an opportunity to dispose of items and make the city cleaner.
“We want to encourage residents to help clean up their neighborhood to help make Kosciusko beautiful,” Alderman at-large Tim Kyle said.
Trash receptacles will be availible at Jason Niles Park from 8 a.m. until noon. Citizens will not be allowed to dispose of tires and paint.
“Our goal with the citywide clean-up is to keep Kosciusko beautiful through a partnership between the residents and city employees,” Mayor Jimmy Cockroft said.
In other business the board awarded a $17,500 contract to Pearson Enterprises for road repair on N. Natchez Street.
The project calls for repairs to the road from the railroad to the beginning of state maintenance.
Other actions take by the board include
• granted a recreation center permit to Tin Shack Bar and Grill;
• adopted an ordinance to partner with Central Mississippi Crimestoppers, calling for an additional $2 charge to all misdemeanor charges;
