Meet the author of “The Fruit of the Spirit is Not a Coconut” by BJ Jenkins was held Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Attala County Library.
The book was illustrated by Jenkins’ daughters, Katie Katzenmeyer and Molly Crouch, who were in attendance and signed copies with their mother. The book had its beginning as a story Jenkins repeatedly told her grandchildren, prompting her to put the story in book form, Jenkins said.
The book’s setting is Kosciusko Middle Elementary School, with several students included in the book. They were invited to a first private reading and book signing and were presented an autographed copy by Jenkins and the illustrators. Students then took turns autographing their classmates’ books and afterwards signed for those from the community who attended the signing event.
“The children’s rhyming book teaches Godly character and Christ-like attitudes and how the Holy Spirit moves in our hearts and how His fruit grows in everyday life,” said Jenkins.
The large, colorful hard-back book sells for $15 and is available at Ivey Lane Bed and Breakfast and will be available on Amazon soon. Another signing is scheduled April 6 at Sullivan’s Drug Store.
