Cycling stories from the Trace
“I’m really impressed,” said world traveler Brian Becker about his travels on the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Becker took a break at the Visitors Center in Kosciusko recently, having started his bicycle trek in Natchez.
A native of New York, Becker is on a 14-month bicycle tour of the United States, Mexico and Central America, writing a journal for his website “Wild By Nature.”
During his overnight stay in Kosciusko, he planned to write a chapter on Kosciusko and the Natchez Trace.
“I am really impressed by the beauty, so peaceful,” he said. “Anytime you can ride 140 miles without seeing a stop light or a billboard is a wonderful experience. The Trace is a jewel.”
Having already traveled 18,000 miles on his quest to date, Becker said he is within four or five weeks of completing his 14 months of travel. Beginning in New York, across the U.S., then to Mexico and South America.
At the Trace’s end, he said he will head home armed with a wealth of information for his journal, including a chapter on the Natchez Trace and Kosciusko.
