County Library closed
The Attala County Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19, for President’s Day.
Monthly meeting of the NAACP
The monthly meeting of the NAACP will be February 22 at 6 p.m. at the CMC building in Kosciusko.
Fighting for a Cure 5K Walk
The first annual Multiple Sclerosis meeting will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. in the Attala County Library meeting room. Art Show to highlight works of Ann Jordan
The Attala Historical Society will sponsor an art exhibit celebrating the life and works of beloved Attala County artist Ann Jordan, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center.
Anyone with pieces of art created by Ann Jordan can take part in exhibiting at the show. Historical Society members will be at the Cultural Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the day of the show receiving art for the show that evening.
“We want to celebrate the life of Ann Jordan,” said Historical Society Board Member Judi Bell. “She was such a giving person and there are so many pieces of her work here in Kosciusko. We want this to be an evening of celebration and sharing of her talent.”
Bell asked that each contributor to the show bring up to two pieces to share. Historical Society members will be in the building at all times throughout the day to protect the pieces, and contributors will be asked to pick up their pieces when the show ends at 7 p.m.
Many of Jordan’s pieces had names and stories attached to them. All contributors will be given a card to fill out with information about the piece they are sharing.
Refreshments will be served in the courtyard at the Cultural Center throughout the evening.

Egg Hunt March 31
On Saturday, March 31, the courthouse lawn in downtown Kosciusko will be the location of an Easter Egg Hunt.
Picking 35 April 7
Plans are underway for the second annual Picking 35, slated for Saturday, April 7. Picking 35 is a 50-mile stretch of yard sales beginning in Attala County near Carmack that runs down Highway 35 through Kosciusko, Carthage and then ending in South Leake County at Walnut Grove. The entry fee to be included in the advertising and promotion is $20 to help defray the costs of signage and advertising. The form can be completed and entry fee paid at the Kosciusko-Attala Partnership Office. For your entry, you will receive a 24 x 18 official vendor yard sign with stake.
