Tina McNeal was named to the Kosciusko School Baord of Trustees during the Board of Aldermen’s meeting last Wednesday.
McNeal will serve out the remainder of an unexpired term, which will end December 31, 2018.
“My main focus as a member will be to work with the other members, the superintendent - as well as the community and parents - in restoring the school district back to an elite, Level A functioning school district,” she said.
When asked how to do that, McNeal said everyone involved needs to start with a clean slate as a new Superintendent Billy Ellzey takes the helm.
“There needs to be more unity and communication, especially with the community and with the superintendent,” she said.
“I am going to be an advocate for our kids, first and foremost,” McNeal said. “I want to invest in the children for tomorrow ... to enhance the leadership of tomorrow.”
McNeal is grew up in Sallis, the youngest of nine children. She is a 1998 graduate of McAdams High School. She was graduated from MSU in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science: Pre-Physical Therapy, and a 2005 and 2009 graduate of UMC with a doctorate of Physical Therapy.
She and husband Tony McNeal, a 1994 graduate of Kosciusko High School, have two children, Chloe, 5, a kindergartener at Kosciusko Lower Elementary, and Brayden, 7, a second-grader at Kosciusko Middle Elementary.
