The Kosciusko Board of Trustees worked through several routine matters of business in a special called meeting with just over a week until the start of the school year.
At Monday’s meeting, Kosciusko Board of Trustees approved a number of personnel and policy items, including the hiring of four new instructors and a counselor.
With unanimous votes, Semone Olive was hired as a counselor at the high school on a 227-day contract along with Gunner Nichols as a teacher at upper elementary and Kristen Ferguson as a teacher at the middle school. Veronica Alma Rodriguez and Reagan Chipley were named assistants in the new pre-kindergarten program.
The board also accepted the resignation of Tanya Nichols as an assistant teacher and bus driver.
In other action the board approved handbook changes and a technology fee policy for all schools.
Most of the handbook changes discussed at the meeting were questions about the wording of policies. The technology fee will call for a $15 fee per student to be used for technology maintenance and up-keep.
Other actions taken by the board include
• approving Perry Murphy as the junior varsity head football coach and summer lifting coach;
• approving eSpark as sole source for pre-k to help differentiate instruction with iPads and develop digital curriculum;
