Kosciusko has been named No. 9 in a recent analysis of the 10 most tax-friendly places for retirees in Mississippi by SmartAsset, a New York based financial technology company.
The study aimed to find the areas with the most tax-friendly policies for retirees, looking at how the tax policies of each city would impact a retiree with a $50,000 income.
Affordability, especially in terms of account property, income, fuel, sales and social security tax data were all part of the data derived.
The study found that 0.90% property tax rate, derived from dividing the median property tax paid by the median home value and $259 average fuel tax paid giving Kosciusko a 69.60 index.
Louisville was at the top of the rankings with a 73.55 index.
Mississippi ranks has a very tax friendly state, exempting all forms of retirement income from taxation, including Social Security benefits, income from an IRA, income from a 401(k) and any pension income.
