Two former police chiefs have now rejoined the force of the Kosciusko Police Department.
R.J. Adams and Dirk Thayer, who both are retired officers with KPD, were hired as part-time officers last Tuesday night by the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen during its meeting. The two officers will mostly work as transport officers to help the department transport city prisoners to the Leake County Correctional Facility in Carthage.
The aldermen agreed to transport its prisoners to Leake County at a rate of $19 per day after the Attala County Board of Supervisors voted to close the Attala County prisoners early this month. Kosciusko is guaranteed a minimum of five beds from LCCF.
Adams and Thayer will be compensated on a per day basis at $100 per day of work.
In other business the aldermen:
• approved the purchase of three weapons for KPD totaling $1,227;
• accepted resignations from Bradley Fancher and Chris Johnson;
• approved an agreement with PTS Solutions, Inc. which provides software for court and police, totaling $3,745;
• approved a $20,727 bid from Custom Paving Inc. for road repair in the city.
