New officers for the Kosciusko Police Department, summer workers for the Parks and Recreation Department and the purchase of two patrol cars were among matters handled at the Feb. 20 meeting of the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen.
Chris Gaughf was named to the police department and Robert Hooker, currently a part-time employee, was granted full-time employment with the KPD.
Colby Wallace, Reed Patton and Sam Rigby were hired for the parks and recreation department, and Mary Swinney was hired for the splash pad at Jason Niles Park.
Approval was granted for the purchase of two patrol cars by state contract. A bid of $19,990, submitted by Crowson Auto World, was also accepted for the purchase of a pickup truck for the Wastewater Department. Approval was granted for the purchase of equipment for the Parks and Recreation Department at a cost of $4,047, as well.
Police Chief Herbert Dew requested the use of War on Crime Funds for payment to a citizen who provided helpful information to the department. The board approved a $50 payment to the citizen from the fund.
Looking into the possibility of an annexation, the aldermen received a contract for study and proposals was presented to aldermen.
