The 48th annual Natchez Trace Festival is just under a month away, but organizers will officially kick things off Friday afternoon.
The NTF kickoff event will be held from 4-6 p.m. on N. Natchez Street in front of the Kosciusko Attala Partnership building. The kickoff will include inflatable jumpers, face painting a car show and so much more. Hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream will also be available.
“The kickoff will be a nice family event to give people a little taste of the Natchez Trace Festival on April 28 and 29,” NTF organizer Patti Edwards said.
The night will conclude with the crowning of a new Miss Natchez Trace Festival during the festival pageant, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center on the corner of Washington and Huntington Streets.
“We have had a handful of entrants this year, so it should be another good night as last year’s Miss NTF Jordan Tharpe will give up her crown to a new queen.”
General admission to the Miss NTF pageant will be $5.
The KAP will also be selling festival t-shirts and posters during the kickoff event. T-shirts, which are $15 each, can also be purchased at the KAP office prior to and after the kickoff event.
