A group of area residents has come together to revitalize the Ashford-Presley & Stingley Park, formerly known as Northside Park.
The group held a weekend full of events, including a kickoff meeting to form a committee to help plan for the future of the park on Friday evening. Alderman Henry Daniel and Rep. Kenneth Walker attended and advised the group on ways to plan and fund park improvement projects.
The group plans to meet quarterly to keep momentum going.
On Saturday, there was a well-attended basketball tournament and a slam dunk contest, followed by children’s activities all afternoon. The day closed with adult softball registration.
On Sunday, the group invited area choirs to perform for “Praise in the Park.”
