Two groups of funding will go towards the building of the proposed Mississippi Native American Museum at the former Leonard’s Building in downtown Kosciusko.
The Kosciusko Board of Aldermen provided a memorandum of understanding for $500K in funds from the state and approved a certificate of acceptance from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History for an additional $500K.
The museum will be used to pay homage to the native American heritage in Mississippi along the historic Natchez Trace. The project is expected to cost over $6 million.
In other action the aldermen:
• approved a payment totaling $14, 795.64 to Delta Contractors for work on the CDBG project;
• appointed Trent Adams to the planning commission;
• approved the purchase of new computers for city hall totaling $5,412.35;
• approved new code enforcement software;
• approved a full time and part time dispatcher for E911;
• approved a proclamation for National School Counseling Week.
The next scheduled meeting of the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen will be Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
