The Kosciusko School District board of trustees took no action on the contract termination of former Whippet senior high football coach Chad Peterson.
Peterson, who will remain with the district as a teacher, was relieved of his coaching duties last Saturday after not being on the sideline for the Whippets road game last week.
After meeting in closed session for nearly two hours, during its meeting Thurdsay night, the board voted to continue discussions with Peterson about his contract and officially appointed Sid Wheatly as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Wheatley was formerly the offensive coordinator for the team.
In other business superintendent of schools Gina Smith told the board that installation of the seven modular units for the new pre-kindergarten classrooms has been completed. School administrators did the final check off today and have already begun moving in students.
A ribbon cutting for the new facility is expected in the coming weeks.
Other actions taken by the board include:
• approval of Elazarus Greenleaf as KHS girls track coach, Derrick Huffman as KHS and KJH boys track coach and Billie Jamison as KHS girls assistant basketball coach;
• approval of a supplement for Corrie Ramage for traveling and tutoring with the Success School;
• accepted the resignation for retirement from Regina Weeks as a teacher at KME;
• approval of Dorothy Gray as janitor at KME and Velma Anderson and Annie Fletcher as cafeteria subs;
• approval of Minorities and success as another avenue for job postings with the district;
• approval of STEP as sole source for data collection with students with reading disabilities and ADHD.
