Just before 7 p.m. New Year’s Day, KPD Officer Chase Voyles, who has been on the force for about 18 months, called into the department to report he had rolled his cruiser on Knox Road into a culvert.
Voyles was taken to the hospital by private vehicle and later released.
“He’s fine, but he’s going to have some bumps and bruises, but he’s going to be okay,” said Chief Herbert Dew Tuesday. “We were worried about him. That was one hell of a lick. That was about a 15-foot drop into that culvert.”
The Attala County Sheriff’s Department handled the initial investigation, as that is protocol.
“I anticipate the vehicle will be totalled,” said the Chief.
