The Kosciusko School board is one step closer to selecting the city’s new Superintendent following a special meeting Tuesday evening with the Community Committee they appointed to help them in the search process.
Since it pertained to personnel issues, most of the meeting was conducted in executive session, but board members updated The Star-Herald following the session.
“We met with the Community Committee and they gave us a short list,” said board President Dr. Kenneth Quick. “We hope we’ll proceed to go through those and in the next couple of weeks to narrow it down to the point where we have an answer.”
Board members said the involvement of the Community Committee has helped move the process forward rapidly.
Prior to the executive session, Board member Randy Fuller thanked the committee members, most of whom wre present for the joint session.
“To you all, thank you,” he said. “You put things on fast forward and made this work for us.”
After the executive session - during which the committee shared their recommendations with the board - board members again noted the value of the Community Committee.
“The committee was great. We really appreciate all the time it took for them to help us,” said board member Jenny Jones.
The board declined to indicate the number of candidates who are still in the running, saying only that they will now review the short list and all other available information. They will also likely interview a number of candidates in person before making a final decision.
“Now our homework starts,” said Quick.
