Program looks to grow; seeks performance spaceCapping off its first year with a full theater program, Kosciusko Junior High perfomed “Bedtime Stories - As Told by
Our Dad, Who Messed Them Up” last Thursday night.
The performance troup was a combination of KJH theater arts students and other interested students, each of whom had to audition for a role.
“We’re hoping to grow the program,” said teacher Lauraleigh Adams. “We’ve got a great athletic program and a great band program. There is so much to offer to these other kids who are looking for their place to fit in.”
Some 105 students currently participate in the four theater classes offered each day. The elective for seventh- and eighth-graders gives participating students a fine arts credit toward their high school requirements.
The main challenge faced by the program is the lack of a performance space since ceiling damage made the KJH space unusable.
“We’re going to need the community to help on that,” said Adams.
