Incumbents handily won reelection by taking the Kosciusko Democratic primaries last week. Just under 1,100 eligible voters went to the polls.
“I am glad this is done. It is always stressful,” said Mayor Jimmy Cockroft. “Now we can all get back to work. We’ve all been a little distracted.”
Cockroft said he is happy to have the other incumbents reelected as well.
“It’s good to get these guys back. They do a fantastic job; we all do what we think is best for the community,” he said.
Cockroft’s challenger, Dorothy Patrick, said that despite this loss, she will likely run again.
“I’m happy with the results. I just wanted to get my name out there, because in four years, it will be up again,” she said of the mayoral seat.
Asked if she would consider running for an alderman seat before returning for another mayoral race, Patrick said it was not likely, though possible.
“I will run again, possibly,” she said. “Mayor is what I want, but I’d never say never,” to another role.
