Helping Hands Ministry brought music and barbecue to the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Thursday night.
The annual event brought in $1,400 for the support of the ministry. In addition to the sale of tickets to the meal, a silent auction and offerings of reconditioned jewelry added to the total for the evening.
Matt Tucker served as emcee and introduced entertainers Taft Hawthorne, Tony Casamassina and Doug Hancock, who presented a variety of vocal selections including, gospel, bluegrass gospel and traditional.
Helping Hands sponsors events throughout the year raising money for its operation. A Thrift Store on North Madison Street is operated Tuesday through Saturday. The ministry building where food and clothing are distributed on Tuesday and Thursday, is located on Highway 12 west. Both facilities are operated year-round.
