For the 32nd year preparations are being repeated as First United Methodist Church finalizes plans for the Passion Play “His Last Days.”
The annual event takes place on the grounds of the church the three days prior to Easter on April 16.
Pastor Scott Wright said the cast and crew are coming together. Many of the characters will play their roles from previous years and others will assume their places for the first time in the cast of characters. “Other churches are coming on board as this becomes a community event,” said Rev. Wright.
The one-hour play, which depicts the trial, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, was written by the late pastor Rev. Charles Wiggers when he was pastor at First Methodist during the eighties.
The outdoor drama takes place on the grounds in front of the church on East Washington Street and progresses to North Natchez Street for the final scenes.
There is no charge for attendance.
