The Kosciusko Board of Alderman met last Thursday night after their normal Tuesday night meeting was pushed back due to wintry weather.
On the agenda for the City of Kosciusko was the acceptance of the resignation of street department employee Stevie Ables. Ables was rehired by the Mississippi Forestry Commission after accepting employment with the city several months ago.
The board also reviewed an ordinance on rental property, which it feels is becoming an issue in the city. The city currently has no ordinance on rental property calling for yearly inspections. With the proposed ordinance, the city would legally have the right to inspect a property before a new tenant is allowed to move in if an inspection has not been performed in the last year. The inspection would be performed to make sure the property is up to code.
In closing, the city reviewed splash pad fees and deposits and decided to leave them as is.
