Dozens gathered Monday at the Coliseum to pay tribute to the country’s deceased veterans.
Capt. Percy Norwood, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.), was the featured speaker. He focused his comments on the history of the holiday, the role of the Coast Guard and honoring the veterans who gave all in defense of the country.
“Freedom is not free; it never has been and never will be. We honor their loyalty and their commitment,” he said.
About the military in general, he said that of the United States remains the best there is.
“We use the collective talents of all of our people. We are simply all Americans,” he said.
