A joint drug operation by city and county authorities resulted in the seizure of over $4,000 in drugs and weapons after a traffic stop Monday morning.
Various agencies teamed up including the Kosciusko Police Department, Attala County Sheriff's Office and Leake County Constable Steven McMillon.
"Many dedicated individuals were involved in this three-week investigation,” said Tim Nail, Attala County Sheriff. “This is a great example of both departments working together to help get these drugs off the street.”
At approximately 4:30 a.m. Monday morning city and county officials made a traffic stop on County Road 4116 in Sallis from information received in a tip. Officers recovered 113 grams of Marijuana, 14.1 grams of Methamphetamine, 10 Xanax bars, eight grams of Heroin and 45 MDA/ecstasy pills. Police also seized one pair of scales, a .380 pistol and an AR-15 riffle.
Willie Jean Ellis, 39-year-old black male, of Sallis was arrested and charged with four counts possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a count of felony possession firearm and a count of misdemeanor controlled substance.
Ellis is being held at the Leake County Correctional Facility on a $41K bond.
