Ricky Birmingham, a 34-year-old black male from Kosciusko, faces charges in both the city and coumty court systemd after his Feb. 20 arrest.
Attala County received in incident report on Feb. 20 regarding Birmingham and alerted Kosciusko police of his likely whereabouts according to Sheriff Tim Nail.
When Kosciusko police apprehended the suspect without incident, they found he was carrying a firearm, according to Police Chief Herbert Dew, and planned to charge him as a felon in possission of a firearm.
However, due to the nature of the county charges against the suspect, KPD turned him over to the Sheriff’s department initially.
The county has since charged Birmingham with kidnapping and rape of the same victim from whom he allegedly stole the firearm.
Birmingham made an initial appearance in Kosicusko Municipal Court Tuesday on the weapons charge and remains in custody in Leake County jail on the county’s charges.
